Dresden (dpa/sn) – According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence in Saxony was 95.9 on Tuesday. Last week, the value was well above the threshold of 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week. Nationwide, the incidence was 201.7 as of Tuesday.

However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics.

The highest incidence within Saxony was reported for the city of Leipzig at 159.5, the lowest for the district of Görlitz at 49.1. Saxony-wide there were 1731 new infections and five deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 15,519 people have died in connection with Corona in Bavaria.
