Elchingen (dpa / lsw) – In a truck accident on the Autobahn 7, several 100 liters of diesel were spread over two kilometers of road. The 33-year-old truck driver drove into a lane divider, a crash barrier and a sign when turning, the police said on Saturday. The vehicle’s tank ruptured on Friday and the contents discharged onto the street. The 33-year-old drove on for about two kilometers before stopping at a hard shoulder.
It is not yet clear how the accident at the Ulm/Elchingen motorway junction happened. However, fatigue was not the reason. The highway was closed for hours, resulting in miles of traffic jams. The diesel did not get into the ground and the road could be completely cleaned. The damage is estimated at at least 50,000 euros.
