Passau (dpa / lby) – A man wanted to jump on an incoming freight train in Passau main station and was seriously injured. As the federal police announced on Saturday, the 41-year-old man was standing on platform 1 at around 5:20 a.m. in the early morning when the freight train arrived at around 40 kilometers per hour to stop for a change of personnel. The man from Georgia wanted to jump on the train, but slipped and was dragged a good 200 meters until the train came to a standstill, said a police spokesman. The “Passauer Neue Presse” had previously reported.

“What made the man jump on the train is still unclear at the moment,” said the police spokesman. Rescue workers took care of the seriously injured on site and then took them to the Passau clinic. “The train driver suffered a shock and was given psychological care.” The freight train continued its journey an hour and a half late.
