Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – From Monday onwards, drivers have to be prepared for new road construction sites in the state and impairments lasting several months. According to a statement from the Ministry for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, work is beginning on the four-lane B 189 north of Magdeburg. There will be extensive renovation work between Barleben and Meitzendorf, which is expected to last until mid-August. According to the ministry, the asphalt surface of all lanes will be renewed for almost 2.8 million euros. Depending on the construction phase, traffic will be routed over the lane where construction is not going on.
At the beginning of the week, the go-ahead was also given for the expansion of the Haldensleben through-road in the Börde district. It was said that construction would continue along the B 245 until at least the end of September. According to the ministry, the federal government and the local wastewater association are investing 1.2 million euros in the project. Above all, it includes the expansion of a 400-meter-long section of Gerikestrasse, in which the rainwater channel and drainage system are also to be renovated.
In the Altmark near Havelberg, the construction of a cycle path along the B 107 is scheduled for Monday. A two and a half kilometer gap in the local cycle path network will be closed. Construction will be completed by the end of August so that cyclists can then ride the approximately six-kilometer-long route between Hohengöhren and Klietz in the Stendal district. The ministry estimates the costs for the section still to be built at just under 840,000 euros.
