AutoFlight, a major international player in electric flying vehicles (eVTOL), has chosen the International Air and Space Show in Le Bourget, which starts this Monday, June 19, 2023, to publicly present its Prosperity I vehicle for the first time. .
The latter broke the world record for the longest eVTOL flight last February. It covered the distance of 250 km (or 134.9 nautical miles) on a single charge of the aircraft’s lithium-ion batteries. The flight took place at AutoFlight’s eVTOL test site on February 23, 2023 and included 20 loop circuits. The device was piloted remotely from the ground by a test crew. Although the Gen4 version of AutoFlight’s Prosperity I is equipped with its own parameter control system (distance, speed, altitude, etc.), the start-up has also used the independent control system ForeFlight, in order to record and check the distance… Flying 250 km non-stop is not a goal in itself, because a flying taxi is appreciated especially to cover “the last mile”. The one that is the most difficult… On the other hand, the autonomy will make it possible to offer a certain number of races in a row without recharging. The operation requires, in fact, a minimum of technical installations on the ground (handling and battery charging).
An electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft made by Chinese start-up AutoFlight has recently completed a 250.3-km flight on a single charge, setting a new record for two-ton eVTOL aircraft.
