Essen (dpa / lnw) – Within a few hours there was a series of nine fires in Essen. The cases from early Friday morning could possibly be related, as a police spokesman reported. Most of the time rubbish such as garbage containers or bulky waste burned. A fire in the basement of an apartment building left two people with minor injuries who were taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The causes of the fires are currently unclear.
