The Special Commission established in the Senate of Brazil to investigate the management of the pandemic came to an end on Tuesday night with the approval of the final report.
With seven votes in favor and four against, the senators gave green light to a text that accuses Bolsonaro of nine crimes: Epidemic with a result of death, infringement of sanitary measures, irregular use of public funds, incitement to crime, falsification of documents
, Charlatanism, prevarication, crime against humanity and crime of responsibility.
It also points to another 78 people, among which are their three political children, four ministers and two ex-finals, and two private companies.
The report gathers thousands of evidence and is based mainly on the government’s thesis of achieving herd immunity through massive contagion.
Other central points of accusations are the commitment to ineffective medications against COVID-19 and the delay in the purchase of vaccines, which were also marked by suspicion of corruption.
Before the vote, the Rapporteur of the Commission that drafted the text, Senator Renan Calheiros, highlighted Bolsonaro’s responsibility for the more than 606,000 deaths that accumulates the country: “Many deaths could have been avoided.
, but mainly from the President of the Republic, of that ‘Serial Killer’ who has compulsion of death and continues to repeat everything he did before, “he said.
Calheiros and opposition senators were especially outraged with a severe Bolsonaro statement last Thursday.
In one of the videos of him that he retransmits live on social networks he said that vaccines against Covid-19 can cause AIDS.
Bolsonaro threw the stone and hid his hand.
He did not enter details claiming that he could “have problems” with the video.
Medical Associations responded in Tromba denying the information, and Facebook and Instagram eliminated the video.
YouTube was a step further and suspended his channel for a week, recalling that his guidelines do not allow “medical misinformation”.
At the thread of all this controversy, the senators included a request for Google, Facebook and Twitter to deliver private information from Bolsonaro, such as content registration and editing data and all stored material.
In addition, they asked the Federal Supreme Court a precautionary measure to prohibit Bolsonaro’s access to social networks “to protect the Brazilian population.”
Precisely, the diffusion of ‘Fake News’ is one of the pillars of the accusations against the President in the Senate Report.
Both he and the environment of him spread lies about the masks or social distancing, but also priordate the benefits of ineffective medicines (such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine) and sowed doubts against vaccines.
The Government even ignored laboratory requests such as Pfizer, who was looking forward to selling millions of vaccines to Brazil to make the country “the showcase” of the global vaccination campaign.
After the approval of the report, the text with all the evidence will be delivered to the Attorney General of the Republic, to the Public Prosecutors of States and even the International Criminal Court of the Hague, the competent bodies to evaluate the different criminal types.
However, it is quite unlikely that Bolsonoaro will end in jail.
It is rather a political wear strategy.
Fack less than a year for elections.
