Days after the information published by the world about the accounts of RTVE, José Manuel Pérez Torrene has sent a letter to all the employees of the chain to ensure that “nor the capital reduction of the company (which adopted the previous administration) or
Debt dragging derived from the VAT litigation (which affects all public radiotelevisions) will constitute any inconvenience for the sustainability of the company “.
The President of the Public Corporation maintains that “RTVE is a sustainable and sanitized company,” although in its missive, to which this newspaper has had, recognizes the points over which the world caught: the capital reduction up to 1
Million euros, information in which it was mentioned that the process began with its predecessor Rosa María Matthew, and the amount to which already ascends the debt of the Corporation, 380 million euros.
“The exploitation account for the current year will be balanced,” says Pérez Trene’s exercise, who is confident that the courts give him the reason against the Tax Agency in his back payment claims: “It is quite foreseeable than our debt.
, derived from the litigation with Treasury on VAT compensation, may be reduced considerably. ”
Specifically, the Tax Agency requests sums corresponding to the years 2015, 2016 and 2017, which RTVE has managed to cover thanks to a loan at zero interest rate of CaixaBank that expires on December 31 and that in total a total of
140 million euros, according to the corporation documents that has been able to consult the world.
Claims have impacted enormously in the increase of this chain liability, which has varied in just a few months of 180 million to those mentioned 380 million euros.
Society has also been forced to carry out a capital reduction to adjust it to its real heritage, which has been eroding in recent years.
For the second time in the recent history of the Corporation, the deed, which was 1,500 million euros, decreased to 1,122 million in 2014 and from 2021 will be reduced to only 1,000 million.
Other factors threaten RTVE, without going further the new audiovisual law that the Government prepares and that includes eradicating the percentage of income that telecommunications companies dedicate to the public chain.
By replacing that rate on the other for the new platforms such as Netflix, the injection in the accounts would be much lower according to the calculations properly developed by RTVE and disclosed around the world: from 140 million to 7 million euros.
Pérez Torane has also congratulated the budgetary forecast that, on a public basis, is granted to the radiotelevision from the government.
To make its calculation, the current president discounts all the investment and the extraordinary expense that in the previous year he had to assume to be able to issue this summer the Tokyo Olympic Games, so that the comparison in these PGE is carried out with a minor premium amount
: “For 2022 it increases by 6% (that is, in about 10 million euros) and follows the upline of recent years.”
In addition, the President has highlighted that “the compensation for public service has increased, reaching 443 million, and the radio target passes from 380 to 410”.
