In the winter of 1986, music in English dominated the Billboard Ranking.
Prince stressed with KISS, Inxs rose and low positions and the Heart duo remained at the top.
However, in March of that year, a curious song in German came to dethrone them all.
It is Rock Amadeus, an issue inspired by Mozart, which with its rockers and electronic rhythms conquered 35 countries.
And although Falco, the interpreter of him, never had a number 1 again, the Austrian did become a millionaire.
Despite this, the personal life of him did not run the same fortune …. and is that, in repeated occasions, Falcó confessed that he “was crazy”, that he consumed many drugs and who needed alcohol to survive fame
.
It could be said that the life of Falco was tragic since he was born.
The reason?
The singer was the only survivor of a triangle birth and, according to the words of the artist himself, he sometimes felt the absence of his brothers.
But that was never an impediment for the Viennese to develop the talents of him.
In fact, Falco – whose real name was Johann Hölzel – began to play the piano when he was only four years old and he said at the Conservatory before finishing the Institute.
However, the young man never felt comfortable and, a few months later, he left the institution because of “his frustrating education of him” of him.
A year later, Falco was forced to perform military service, but the music bichito remained present and at the end of his obligations, he began to play the bass for some well-known jazz bands.
In spite of this, the musician was never presented as Johann, but as John Hudson, John Di Falco or other nicknames, among which one day appeared Falco.
The name with which he decided to launch his solo career in 1981. From the beginning, Falco took over.
He had a look that did him special and the punk attitude that the time demanded, so in 1982 the interpreter managed to record the first album of him.
Since the beginning of his professional career, Falco managed to highlight in various countries.
For example, the songs of Him Ganz Wien and Der Kommissar achieved great recognition in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom.
However, none caused such a fervor as Rock Amadeus, the hit that positioned Falco as the first German-speaking singer to reach a number 1 in the United States.
As a result, many affirm that the artist could not be more than a ‘One Hit Wonder’.
However, it is important to remember that the next single of the Austrian – called Vienna Calling – also managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100, reaching the number 18.
Even so, the biographers of Falco say that the singer never had a happy life.
He was perfectionist, selfish, looked for the constant fame and when he did not get it, he abused drugs and alcohol.
Moreover, in a book written by Horst Bork, the former manager of him, the representative reveals that the celeb lost a millionaire contract, in 1986, because he was not able to stay sober.
“Falco lost a plane to London because he was drunk. All the negotiations and efforts were destroyed by the addiction of him alcohol and drugs,” he wrote.
Likewise, Bork assures that music was the only thing that held alive to Falco … In addition to Katharina, his daughter, who was born in 1986. During his early years, Falco and his wife Isabella raised Katharina together.
But in 1990, the singer began to have doubts about the parenthood of the girl and a DNA test failed to deliver conclusive results, so the artist decided to leave Katharina out of him.
“Before the test, I was the only heiress of it. After that, I was completely excluded,” said the young woman in The Local.
But neither Katharina nor his mother could have imagined that in 1998 the will would become effective, after Falco died in a traffic accident.
According to the news from that moment, the interpreter was driving a Mitsubishi Montero, between the cities of Villa Montellano and Puerto Plata -in Dominican Republic – when he collided with a bus.
And although the news of the death of him left thousands of fans impacted, his popularity rose again and rock me amadeus returned to become fashionable.
A situation that took advantage of the label of him, which, a month later, launched of the dark, the posthumous album of him and, probably, one of the most successful of him.
