A man, a civil guard by profession, has allegedly shot to death his ex-wife, a 44-year-old woman whose body was found early this afternoon in the vicinity of the O Muiño campsite, in the Pontevedra town of Santa María de Oia . The suspect committed suicide by shooting himself on a hill near the scene where he was located by the Civil Guard. As reported by the Armed Institute to Europa Press, the alleged perpetrator of the events committed suicide around 10:15 p.m. this Saturday after more than an hour in which the agents have tried to talk with him so that he turns himself in.

The victim was in charge of the cleaning service at the O Muiño campsite and the alleged murderer is her ex-partner, a civil guard who had a restraining order that prevented him from coming within 300 meters of the deceased.

According to the information provided by the Civil Guard, the crime is being investigated as a case of gender violence, so it would be the second sexist murder this year in Galicia, after the murder of a woman in Baiona last February by the one his ex-partner was arrested.

The 112 learned of an altercation at this campsite around 4:10 p.m. this afternoon. The emergency center mobilized the Civil Guard and the Autonomous Police to the place.

At the moment, all the hypotheses are open but this newspaper has already been able to confirm that the murder weapon would be a shotgun. After shooting him, the man fled and has not yet been located.
