The United States and Britain have accused Russia to have the weapon in the space tested. The space Department of the American army said on Thursday that it had “evidence” that Moscow on may 15. July have tested an Anti-satellite weapon in space. The incident highlights the “real, serious and growing” threat to the space systems of the United States and its allies, it said on the Website of the U.S. Space Command.

The head of the British space Directorate, major-General Harvey Smyth, said the same as the United States. He tweeted that the Russians had fired a projectile “with the characteristics of a weapon”. “We call on Russia to avoid further such Testing.”

The American chief negotiator for Disarmament Affairs, Marshall Billingslea, described the test as “unacceptable”. It was a “serious matter” that needed to be addressed in the disarmament negotiations with Moscow in Vienna next week, he wrote on Twitter.

The chief of U.S. Space Command, Jay Raymond, said that the Russian weapons test is a “further proof that Russia is working hard to develop space-based systems and to test”.

The Moscow defense Ministry said the operation at 15. July have examined a “small spacecraft” a national satellite from a short distance, and special equipment used. The United States has not argued, however, that the activities are in line with the above Mission.
