Germany, France, and Italy threaten with the punishment of countries that are in breach of the for Libya existing UN arms embargo. “We are ready to consider a possible imposition of sanctions should violations of the Embargo to the lake stop, on Land or in the air,” it said on Saturday evening in a joint statement, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italy’s head of government, Giuseppe Conte.
Concrete States that could come for sanctions in question were not mentioned in the Declaration. France accused, however, no longer the Turkey, to offend, with weapons deliveries to the troops of the Libyan unit of government against the current EU arms embargo.
Turkey accuses in turn, however, countries such as the United Arab Emirates to breach with the delivery of weapons for the opponents of the government General Khalifa Haftar against the arms embargo. Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said recently that France will send weapons to the illegitimate Haftar.
In the oil-rich Libya ever since the overthrow of long-time ruler Muammar al-Gaddafi in the 2011 civil war. The government troops are supported by Turkey, Haftar, in turn, of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Russia.
