The Covid-19 does not stop the scammers on the internet, quite the contrary. Phishing attempts online has multiplied pendantle containment, according to the common pole of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) and the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de resolution (ACPR). During this period, the authorities have seen the emergence of false jackpots in solidarity, offers of credit “snapshots”, or even proposals for investment in treatments for the Covid-19. “Behind, there is no reality of investment. The so-called advisors are specialists in the mental manipulation and of the right of way,” warns Claire Castanet, director of investor relations with the AMF.

The phenomenon of “spear phishing” online is not new but it is in constant increase since 2018 and the wild side 2.0 can surf on the trends of the moment. “Containment has been a breeding ground for scammers,” confirms Benoît de Juvigny, secretary general of the AMF. In the first four months of the year, approximately 220 new fraudulent websites have already been registered on the black list of the common pole of the ACPR and the AMF, compared to 500 in 2019. “There is a industrialization of these practices by the internet and social networks that enable it to relay false messages,” insists Claire Castanet. According to the estimates of authorities, these online scams would have cost nearly a billion euros to investors between 2017 and 2019.

Yes I just receive a spam imitating the website of the tax point gov’t informing me that I needed to click to get credit of duty of 668 euros.
This e-mail-spam-spam was so well done, with even a mention of warning against spam and phishing!
