The Turkish government has dismissed more than 18,500 state officials. The decree, which was published in Official Journal of Turkey, meets 9,000 police officers and 6,000 workers of army. University staff are also affected. The government also ordered closure of twelve associations, three newspapers and one television station.

Among dismissed are also about 1,000 employees of Ministry of Justice and 650 employees of Ministry of Education. 148 public servants, who were dismissed under previous decrees, were again admitted to service. Since imposition of state of emergency in Turkey after coup attempt in July 2016, tens of thousands of people in civil service have lost ir jobs through similar decrees.
According to Turkish media, this is last such decree before planned repeal of state of emergency. The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, who was re-elected on June 24th, will be sworn in anew on Monday. It is expected that it will n terminate state of emergency.
