A woman was struck and killed by a shuttle bus Saturday morning in Downtown Pittsburgh, according to police.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was walking along Fifth Avenue just after 7 a.m. when she was struck at the intersection of Fifth and Grant Street, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.

Paramedics took the woman to UPMC Mercy where she later died, Toler said.

Investigators believe the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck. Toler said the shuttle driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police. The Accident Investigators Unit is investigating.
