A pedestrian was struck and killed on Thursday morning in the Van Nuys/Lake Balboa area after two vehicles struck the person in a hit and run, authorities said.

The collision occurred at 5:30 a.m. at Woodley Avenue and Leadwell Street, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Liliana Preciado.

The location is just east of Van Nuys Airport.

Preciado said the information was “all preliminary” and the person’s gender was not immediately known.

One of the vehicles fled the location, making the incident Betorder a hit and run, Preciado added.
