Emmanuel Macron confirmed Sunday in Le Parisien his wish to launch “a major ecological restoration project” for schools, promising “funding” to municipalities to fight against “thermal sieves”.
“There are too many schools that are thermal sieves, where children freeze them and then get too hot. We are going to renovate them,” assured the head of state.
“We are going to launch a major ecological restoration project for our schools. We are going to put the funding on it to support the municipalities which cannot do it alone”, added Mr. Macron again facing the readers of Le Parisien, without giving details. envelope or precise timetable.
The president had already announced last November his intention to take an “initiative” on the subject, on the occasion of the “24 hours of the building”. This problem is particularly significant in Marseille, where a third of the schools according to the town hall’s website are “real thermal sieves”, and where a renovation plan has already been initiated, funded by the State.
“It’s a great public project. It will give work to the construction industry, it will help the municipalities because we will support them, it will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and our children will work in good conditions”, a pleaded more generally Emmanuel Macron on Sunday.
The Head of State also wanted to accelerate “the revegetation of schoolyards”, seeing it “a great way to have fresh wells and in the heart of our cities and to educate our children from the start on the environment. “.
