A man from Florida (USA) lost part of his right leg this Friday after being attacked by an alligator in a park in Brevard County, on the east coast.

The attack occurred this afternoon at the Titusville RV park and, as a result of the injuries, doctors had to amputate his right leg below the knee, local channel WKMG TV reported.

The man, whose identity was not revealed, had to be airlifted to a medical center in that county and his condition is unknown.

Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said an alligator hunter tracked down the scene of the attack and subsequently captured two alligators, but it is not known for certain if either of the two caught was the one who attacked the man.

The FWC cautioned that alligators tend to be most visible and active during the spring and summer seasons.

Data released by the FWC in 2021 shows that there were seven major and two minor alligator bites statewide that year, and no fatal attacks.
