According to recent survey results from Israel’s 12th TV channel, a significant 64% of Israelis do not trust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This lack of trust is concerning, as only 30% of respondents indicated that they still have confidence in the current government.
The survey also revealed that 79% of those polled support the creation of a state commission to investigate the mistakes made by Israel’s political and military leadership during the 2014 invasion by Hamas. Only 8% of respondents opposed such an investigation, while 13% were undecided.
In addition, opinions were divided on the possibility of a cease-fire agreement with Hezbollah, with 54% in support and 24% opposed. This comes in the wake of an Israeli Air Force attack on the Lebanese capital targeting a Hezbollah security official, resulting in significant damage and casualties.
The Dubai-based Al Hadath TV channel reported on the airstrike, but it remains unclear whether the security official targeted survived. The attack resulted in the destruction of an 8-story building and damage to five neighboring buildings. The Ministry of Health reported an increase in the number of wounded from 23 to 33, with four confirmed deaths.
This survey highlights the growing distrust in Netanyahu’s leadership and the desire for accountability in the face of military actions. The results also underscore the ongoing tensions in the region and the complexities of negotiating with groups like Hezbollah. As Israel navigates these challenges, it will be essential for leaders to address public concerns and work towards building trust with the Israeli people.
