Lucía Etxebarria was one of the protagonists of the delivery of Viajando con Chester broadcast on Tuesday March 28 in Cuatro. A day earlier, she explained on her social networks that she had experienced several tense moments during the recording of her talk: “I felt deeply uncomfortable at what I interpreted as attacks.” She made it clear that she did not blame the presenter: “Risto’s incisive style is well known and I knew what he was going for.” However, the program was edited and did not show one of the situations that she recounted.

The writer stated in a long text that those responsible for the format had prepared a meeting for her with Jimena González, a trans woman and spokesperson for Más Madrid: “I don’t know if this scene will appear on the program, but they told me that ‘there was a person waiting for me who knew me.’ I met a person whom I didn’t know at all, who spoke to me, scolded me and recriminated me in an exaggeratedly aggressive tone.”

The guest wrote of politics: “I had never seen her in my life and when I referred to this person, she was still a bearded man… I had no idea what they were talking about and was deeply uncomfortable. I left there crying and thinking that everything had been a trap.” The face to face between González and Etxebarria was not included in Viajando con Chester.

The viewers of the Cuatro program were able to see how Lucía Etxebarria criticized the Trans Law. The guest spoke about a smear campaign against her and complained that it had been “absolutely canceled” for three years: “These are not brainless. When there is so much money involved, they are not brainless.” The author affirmed that after the approval of the aforementioned law there are economic interests.

Risto Mejide asked him: “Why do you champion this cause?” She replied: “When this comes to me, it is because of a leak from the Ministry of Equality… Honestly, I was an idiot because I did not realize what I was getting into. I did not know what was going to fall on me and how unprotected I was I had no idea the backlash was going to be so brutal.”

Lucía Etxebarria explained on her social networks that one issue she had to address in Viajando con Chester was the accusations of plagiarism. She clarified on Instagram: “Nobody has convicted me of plagiarism or ever filed a lawsuit against me in connection with the book Extraordinary Women.”

Risto made reference to some screenshots that went viral and that showed copies of texts. The interviewee defended herself: “If it had been like that, there would have been a trial. Three years have passed. Three! As you will understand, it is a matter that is being prosecuted because I have sued and I have been admitted as a criminal and in a court.”
