Burghausen (dpa / lby) – Almost eight months after the fatal shooting in Burghausen, Upper Bavaria, the public prosecutor’s office in Traunstein accused the alleged shooter of murder. The accused is said to have shot a 32-year-old in the entrance area of ??a game library from a short distance with a pistol on July 14, 2022, as the prosecution announced on Tuesday. The district court of Traunstein must now decide on admission to the main hearing.

The then 60-year-old man had previously had a dispute with his then partner. The public prosecutor assumes that the man acted out of anger that the 32-year-old and a 30-year-old had borrowed his partner’s car.

According to the prosecution, he had a brief argument with the two men, then suddenly pulled out a pistol and shot both of them. The 32-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The 30-year-old fled, the shot missed. Therefore, the accused is also charged with attempted murder.

The shooter fled; the police searched for the perpetrator with numerous emergency services in Upper and Lower Bavaria as well as in neighboring Upper Austria. The officials set up several checkpoints and roadblocks, and a helicopter was also used.

About an hour and a half after the first emergency call, police officers discovered the man’s car in Überackern, Upper Austria, about ten kilometers away. A police dog picked up the scent of the fugitive and placed him on a steep embankment. He was extradited to Germany and has been in custody ever since.
