Neumark (dpa/sn) – A gritting vehicle landed in the ditch in Neumark (Vogtland district) on Tuesday morning. The Zwickau police department attributed the accident to carelessness on the part of the 72-year-old driver. The vehicle then overturned into a stream because of the sloping ditch. Rescue workers took the slightly injured driver to the hospital for treatment, it said. The damage was estimated at around 10,000 euros. According to the police, the rescue was complex. The affected road remained closed until noon. In order to prevent the road salt from spilling into the stream, the volunteer fire brigade, among other things, was deployed.
