Hof/Wunsiedel (dpa/lby) – On January 1, 2024, the city of Hof and the district of Wunsiedel will join the greater Nuremberg transport association (VGN). This was decided by the Hof city council and the district council of Wunsiedel, as the municipality and the district office announced on Tuesday. In future, residents of the district of Wunsiedel will be able to use a VGN ticket to travel, for example, from the town of Selb near the Czech border to Nuremberg or Ansbach and use all buses, regional trains and other public transport.

The VGN offers many advantages, said Hof’s Mayor Eva Döhla – for example an app, online tickets or a service telephone. The 365-euro ticket for students and trainees is also a win, according to a statement from the city. In the Hof district, the decision on joining the transport association is still pending, said a spokeswoman for the Hof district office. The district committee had already recommended joining the VGN. The district council will vote on March 17th.

In terms of area, the VGN is the second largest transport association in Germany after the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association. The area of ??the VGN extends over the whole of Middle Franconia and parts of the adjacent administrative districts.
