Fürth (dpa / lby) – Coach Alexander Zorniger demands from his players at SpVgg Greuther Fürth that they stabilize their performance in the long term. That was the next step, said Zorniger before the home game in the 2nd Bundesliga against Hannover 96 this Sunday (1.30 p.m. / Sky). “At some point we will hopefully reconcile a high level and stable performance. And then we’ll be at the level I imagine,” said Zorniger on Friday.
For the Franks there is an interesting reunion with Stefan Leitl, who was a coach in Fürth from 2019 to 2022 and was promoted to the Bundesliga for one season with the game association. Hannover is an opponent with flexible systems, Zorniger remarked. There is no need to speak about the individual quality. “But I think you had to do that in the last few years, somehow it felt seldom at Hannover 96,” said Zorniger. You have to force your opponent to make mistakes, emphasized the 55-year-old.
Zorniger announced that midfielder Max Christiansen will return to the starting XI after suffering a shoulder injury and being suspended. He will not shake the chain of three, said the Fürth coach. He was not well advised to change the system every week. Instead, Zorniger strives for evenness.
