Munich (dpa / lby) – The Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH) must soon judge the climate protection policy of the state government. Specifically, it is about a lawsuit by Deutsche Umwelthilfe, which considers the Bavarian climate protection measures to be inadequate. She therefore wants to legally oblige the state government to present an “effective” climate protection program. A key question, however, is whether the complaint by environmental aid (DUH) is permissible at all. The state government denies this and considers the lawsuit to be inadmissible.

In the public oral hearing on Thursday, the court also dealt with this very question at length and in detail. A decision is expected within two weeks.

The environmental aid criticizes that Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and his cabinet have not yet presented an “effective” climate protection program. Instead, the government merely presented “a random list” without even claiming that these measures are suitable for achieving its own climate protection goals. Therefore, one complains about an update of the program, said the lawyer for environmental aid, Remo Klinger.
