Wittenberg (dpa/sa) – The Elster wind farm in the district of Wittenberg is getting more powerful wind turbines. A spokeswoman for the VSB Group announced that 50 systems would be replaced by 16 new ones. Although there are significantly fewer systems, the energy generated far exceeds that of the discarded systems. The annual energy yield should soon be 235 gigawatt hours, up from 36 gigawatt hours. According to the VSB, the new amount of electricity is sufficient to supply around 150,000 people with electricity each year.
The so-called repowering should take some time. The commissioning of the wind farm is planned for the third quarter of 2024. VSB, headquartered in Dresden, is a project developer for wind and solar parks.
