Osnabrück (dpa/lhe) – SV Wehen Wiesbaden suffered another setback in the promotion battle of the 3rd football league. The Hessians lost the chasing duel at VfL Osnabrück 1: 4 (0: 2) on Saturday and thus missed the temporary jump to second place in the table. With 44 points, the SVWW remains third.
Ba-Muaka Simakala in the 6th minute, Robert Tesche (43′), Lukas Kunze (83′) and Henry Rorig (85′) scored the goals for Osnabrück’s well-deserved victory, who now have 40 points. Ivan Prtajin (90. 3) shortened the penalty in added time with a penalty kick. It was the Croatian’s eleventh goal of the season to have previously been fouled.
Early on, Wehen Wiesbaden fell behind after a corner. Benedict Hollerbach (14th) had the chance to equalize quickly, but his shot just missed the goal. After that, coach Markus Kauczinski’s team kept trying, but unlike the hosts, they didn’t develop any penetrating power. Shortly before the break, Tesche increased, but his shot was deflected by Thijmen Goppel. The game was decided after the late double strike from Kunze and Rorig.
