Auerbach / Vogtland (dpa / sn) – A railcar of the Vogtlandbahn burned in Auerbach. But nobody was injured. As a spokeswoman for the company announced on Friday, the train was on the Plauen line to Falkenstein on Thursday evening around 9:30 p.m. when passengers noticed smoke shortly before Auerbach and informed the driver. According to the company, there were six passengers on the train, and they and the staff at the station were able to get off unharmed. Then there was an open fire in the vehicle.
According to the spokeswoman, no one was injured. The fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control and extinguished it. There is no reliable information on the cause of the fire. The locomotive was secured and taken to a workshop.
Because of the fire, the trains on line RB 5 were canceled on Friday. Buses should be used in rail replacement services. The restrictions could then probably be lifted in the evening. “No further timetable adjustments are to be expected for the upcoming weekend,” it said.
