Mannheim (dpa / lsw) – The Adler Mannheim have signed another goalkeeper with a view to the playoffs in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), which are about to begin. The 29-year-old Evan Buitenhuis takes over the role of the third keeper behind Felix Brückmann and Arno Tiefensee, as the club announced on Wednesday. Buitenhuis last played for Wichita Thunder in the USA. He is expected in Mannheim early next week.

“Goalkeepers play an extremely important role in modern ice hockey. With Felix and Arno, we have an excellent duo who impress with strong performances and are instrumental in the positive course of the season. However, an injury happened quickly. We have to be prepared for this eventuality be,” said Adler manager Jan-Axel Alavaara.
