Schonach in the Black Forest (dpa / lsw) – A father was seriously injured after the detonation of his son’s home-made fireworks in the Black Forest town of Schonach. The 23-year-old son had made an explosive device in his parents’ house from legal fireworks and additives from the Internet and stored it on a workbench in the basement, the police said on Saturday. When the father was doing flex work in the room on Friday evening, there was a detonation. Windows and door frames were torn from their anchorage. The father was taken to a hospital with severe burns.
The son must expect to be charged with violating the Explosives Act. After the incident in the Black Forest-Baar district, the police again pointed out the danger of home-made or unauthorized fireworks. “Be careful when setting off fireworks, keep your distance and only set off approved fireworks so that the start of the new year is not spoiled by possible injuries, some serious.”
