Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – A video consultation offered by the North Rhine Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians was used 1092 times over Christmas by parents of sick children. According to the panel doctors, more than 300 parents sought advice on Christmas Eve, on December 25 there were a good 400 and on Christmas Day almost 370. The KV North Rhine had offered the digital consultation hours because of overcrowded pediatric practices.
Parents were able to contact a pediatrician directly to receive an initial medical assessment. A total of 26 doctors in a two-shift system clarify whether a visit to a children’s emergency service practice is necessary.
The consultation hours funded by the NRW Ministry of Health will be offered until the end of January. Specifically, parents can contact the child emergency service on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. You will then receive a link to the video consultation hour. For this you need a mobile phone, a tablet or a computer with a camera and microphone. No additional software needs to be installed.
