Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Environment Minister Thekla Walker (Greens) has asked consumers to only buy approved fireworks. The Greens politician announced on Tuesday in Stuttgart that attention should be paid to the CE marking. Rockets and firecrackers can be sold in stores from Thursday.

At the same time, Walker called for consideration. “We should be aware of the impact that banging is having on our environment.” The noise is pure stress, especially for animals with fine hearing.

According to the announcement, fireworks can only be used on December 31 and January 1, 2023. Some municipalities have stricter time restrictions; in certain parts of a municipality, the lighting of fireworks can also be completely prohibited. In children’s and old people’s homes, hospitals and churches, the banging of firecrackers and the launching of rockets is prohibited for reasons of noise protection.

Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) warned to be careful with the fireworks. More injuries in hospitals and emergency rooms are expected again this year, he said. “Many of these injuries are avoidable. Those who use fireworks responsibly or perhaps even do without them also help the hospitals and their employees.”
