Saxony: Escaped cow breaks into a pond in the Bautzen district

Hochkirch (dpa/sn) – A cow who escaped fell into a small pond in the Bautzen district and then ran into an adjacent forest. The animal escaped from a pasture near Hochkirch on Thursday, the police said on Friday. Passers-by who then discovered the animal on the B6 called the police. When officers arrived, the cow ran away and collapsed into the nearby Neukuppritzer pond, which police said was covered with a thin layer of ice. Before the fire brigade could save the animal, it freed itself and ran into the adjacent forest. So far, the farmer’s search with the support of hunters has been unsuccessful.
