Rottweil (dpa / lsw) – A prisoner set food leftovers on fire and caused a fire in the Rottweil correctional facility (JVA). The 29-year-old piled up the food in his cell on Friday morning and set it on fire in an unknown manner, a police spokesman said. The smoke triggered the alarm of a smoke detector and the fire alarm system, so that a total of 16 fire engines arrived. The second floor where the fire started was evacuated. According to the police, a JVA employee had to be treated medically for mild smoke poisoning. The property damage in the prison is around 15,000 euros.
