Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The adopted weapons ban zone in Stuttgart should apply from February 1, 2023. The state capital announced this on Friday. The night before, the Stuttgart municipal council was the first municipality in Baden-Württemberg to ban guns by a vote of 36:18. In the future, knives with a blade length of more than four centimeters will be banned in certain inner-city areas on weekends – otherwise there is a risk of a high fine.
The ban should be monitored by the police and the city’s law enforcement service. The emergency services are to be trained accordingly by February 1st. The ban, initially limited to two years, is to be enforced by the police and municipal security service on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday. On days before public holidays, the ban also applies from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
