Colbitz/Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – A 45-year-old driver from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and his 38-year-old companion had a serious accident on the Autobahn 14 near Colbitz (Börde). They were taken to nearby hospitals, police said on Friday. The man drove his car into the central barrier in the morning for reasons that are still unclear and was thrown into the side ditch on the right. The car came to rest on its roof. The two occupants were trapped and had to be freed by the fire department. A puppy that was also in the car was recovered unharmed and was handed over to an animal shelter. The car was no longer drivable and had to be towed. There was damage of around 35,000 euros. The lane in the direction of Schwerin was temporarily closed.
