Dresden (dpa / sn) – Saxony’s government wants to take better care of the needs of children and young people. During a debate on youth policy, Social Affairs Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) reminded the state parliament on Thursday that young people deserve enough space to develop. “To do this, we must continue to stabilize and revitalize our social infrastructure.” Young people need a future with prospects. Youth policy therefore also means that politicians take care of proper old-age provision and decently paid jobs – these are the central wishes and concerns of those affected for their future.
“I very much hope that we will all take a different view of our children and young people with us from the corona pandemic. They have renounced and taken responsibility. That not only deserves recognition. It must also mean that their concerns and their vote for their own future are taken seriously,” explained the minister. In order to focus on children and young people, the concept of an “independent youth policy” is being pursued: “The central task is to look at the youth phase as a whole and to take the interests and concerns of young people into account in all socio-political decisions. “
