Stralsund (dpa/mv) – In 2022, the Ozeaneum Stralsund picked up the number of guests before the corona pandemic. As the museum announced on Thursday, more than half a million guests have been welcomed to the location at the Stralsund port. The numbers are back to 2019 levels.
“We are particularly pleased about the positive development of the numbers. Especially in view of the current crises, we are grateful that the interest of the guests is still so great,” said director Andreas Tanschus. With more than 108,000 visitors, August was even the best month since 2014. The eight millionth guest was also in the Ozeaneum in 2022, it was said.
Most of the guests of the Ozeaneum, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2023, came from Saxony this year. This was followed by visitors from Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The Maritime Museum in Stralsund’s old town will remain closed due to extensive modernization measures. “Although the energy crisis and inflation are making work more difficult, we still want to present a new and modern exhibition and aquariums in summer 2024,” said Director Burkard Baschek.
