Erfurt (dpa/th) – According to Migration Minister Dirk Adams (Greens), the long-discussed reception center for refugees in Hermsdorf is now ready to go. If necessary, refugees could be accommodated in the branch office of the state’s Suhl initial reception facility from Thursday, Adams said on Wednesday in Erfurt. Hermsdorf is operated by the state with a maximum capacity of 700 places. There are now contracts with a security guard and a cleaning service. Meals for the people would have to be organized at short notice.

According to Adams, the number of people being cared for in Suhl is currently falling. If this trend continues, Hermsdorf will not have to go into operation for the time being, but there is the possibility of recording.

The initial reception center in Suhl had reached its capacity limit with more than 1,300 refugees in the past few weeks. A former hardware store in Erfurt is under discussion as a further alternative for increasing capacity for Suhl.
