Wiesbaden/Neu-Anspach (dpa/lhe) – A fire destroyed a residential building in Neu-Anspach in the Hochtaunus district and caused damage of at least 700,000 euros. As the police headquarters in West Hesse announced on Tuesday, three residents aged between 51 and 79 suffered smoke poisoning from the fire in the early morning. According to initial investigations, a technical defect in an electric blanket triggered the fire in the apartment of a 79-year-old. She even alerted the fire brigade. When rescuers arrived, the roof of the house was on fire. The three residents were rescued by firefighters using a turntable ladder.
A neighboring house was damaged by the fire, but firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading to other buildings. A specialist company was hired to demolish the house.
