Weßling (dpa / lby) – According to the police, a fire in a carpentry shop in Upper Bavaria caused damage of around one million euros. The investigators considered intentional arson after the fire in Weßling (Starnberg district) to be “rather unlikely”, the police said on Monday. However, further investigations into the scene of the fire are pending. In the fire on Friday night, the roof structure of the multi-storey building caught fire. Due to problems with the statics, the investigators were initially unable to walk the entire site.

A local resident accidentally noticed smoke rising from the roof of the carpentry shop early Friday morning and dialed the emergency number. Numerous firefighters worked for hours to put out the fire. Nobody got hurt.
