Waiblingen (dpa/sa) – The Bundesliga handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt have gained air in the fight against relegation. Coach Katrin Schneider’s protégés got the upper hand on Saturday at VfL Waiblingen, who was without a win, by 34:22 (15:12). With the second success in a row, the Halle team made the connection to the midfield and climbed from eleventh to ninth place in the table. Cecile Woller (8), Helena Mikkelsen (5), Madeleine Östlund, Edita Nukovic (4 each) and Julia Niewiadomska (4/3) had the largest share in the first away win of the season. Vanessa Nagler (5) and Emma Hertha (4 each) scored the most goals for Waiblingen.
The Halle team took advantage of the nervousness of the hosts in the early stages and quickly pulled away to 6:2 (13 th ). SV Union confidently defended this lead until the change of sides. After the restart, Waiblingen immediately shortened the lead to 14:15 (32nd), but with a 10:2 run to 25:16 (47th), Halle finally turned onto the road to victory. In the final phase, the hosts then collapsed completely.
