Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Lotto-Toto Sachsen-Anhalt will again provide more than one million euros for the common good in the state. Shortly before the end of the year, another 24 charitable projects received funding from the supervisory board for a total of almost 1.05 million euros, Lotto-Toto announced on Thursday in Magdeburg. According to this, 322 applications for funding from the areas of sport, culture and social affairs as well as church monument preservation and environmental protection have been approved so far this year – more than 6.6 million euros have been awarded to the applicants.

The latest 24 projects include eleven from the cultural sector, which together receive around 460,000 euros. For example the town of Braunsbedra in the Saale district for the refurbishment of an old mine locomotive or the Kurt Weill Fest Dessau GmbH. The Saxony-Anhalt Cultural Foundation receives money for exhibitions, it said. Sport also benefits from lottery funding, for example the sports bowlers from Rot-Weiß Zerbst, who bowl in the first Bundesliga and have already won the World Cup several times. The German Forest Protection Association will receive 45,000 euros for the children’s educational project “Waldfuchs 2023.”

Funding comes from gaming revenue. Around 20 cents of every euro spent goes to the common good.
