Leipzig (dpa/sa) – There was a blanket of snow over large parts of Saxony-Anhalt at the weekend – but thaw followed. The white layer measured 5 to 15 centimeters, especially from the Harz Mountains to the Mansfelder Land, as the DWD in Leipzig said on Sunday. In the middle of the country, in the Börde and in Anhalt, there was 3 to 8 centimeters of snow. In the Altmark alone, the snow depth was practically zero.
On Sunday the temperatures were already around one degree. “The thaw continues,” said the DWD. After a night with plus degrees, maximum temperatures of three degrees would be on Monday. Freezing precipitation must be expected in the Harz Mountains on Monday night. Up to five centimeters of wet snow could be added by Monday morning.
