Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Lutz Trümper, Mayor of Magdeburg for many years, will be the first honorary citizen of Otto von Guericke University in the future. Trümper was thus honored for his outstanding services as a committed companion and supporter of the University of Magdeburg, it was said on Tuesday at an academic ceremony. As mayor – and last but not least as an alumnus – he worked closely and cooperatively with the university and emphasized the importance of the university as a driving force, location factor and reliable partner for the city and region. Trümper was mayor from 2001 until this summer.
