Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The Hessian SPD wants to decide at the beginning of next year with which top personnel it will compete in the 2023 state elections. It is eagerly awaited whether the SPD state chairwoman and federal interior minister Nancy Faeser will stand in the autumn election to become Prime Minister of Hesse. Parliamentary group leader Günter Rudolph said on Thursday in Wiesbaden that the announced timetable for the personnel decision would remain in place, and that the Social Democrats’ top candidacy would probably be announced in February.

The Hessian SPD is currently working on developing the topics for the state election campaign, Rudolph reported. The situation at the schools in Hesse, the expansion of the infrastructure, the creation of affordable housing, the equalization of living conditions in the state and the adequate supply of buses and trains in the rural regions will play an important role.
