Plau (dpa / mv) – The series of mobile home thefts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania continues. This time, such a camping vehicle was stolen from the Mecklenburg Lake District in Plau am See, a police spokeswoman said on Thursday. A local’s vehicle was parked in a special parking lot with extra large spaces for such camper vans. The theft was reported on Tuesday.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, mobile homes and camping vehicles have been stolen again and again since 2021, which have been particularly popular since the corona pandemic. Most recently, a mobile home in Grimmen (West Pomerania-Rügen) and a new camping trailer disappeared from a dealer in Stralsund. In total, investigators have recorded more than 25 such thefts with a total value of around one million euros since 2021. The majority disappeared in Western Pomerania, the lake district has not been affected so far.

According to the State Criminal Police Office in MV, experiences pointed to cross-border crime in the direction of Eastern Europe. The investigations are bundled at the Stralsund public prosecutor’s office. A trial against several men from Poland for mobile home theft is also underway at the Rostock district court.
