Stralsund (dpa / mv) – A truck driver has demolished a residential building and his vehicle in the narrow old town of Stralsund, which is listed. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, the 43-year-old driver turned his truck into a street between the port and the market on Wednesday evening and collided with the house on the corner on the right. The police had to move in and help the driver to free the stuck vehicle.

According to the information, the house and the vehicle suffered damage in the five-digit range. It is unclear why the driver wanted to take this route to the Unesco World Heritage city. “No other trucks drive along there, it’s much too narrow,” said a police spokesman. One possibility is that the navigation system wanted to guide the driver there. The house was badly damaged but still habitable.
