Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – Due to a bomb disposal in Karlsruhe, Deutsche Bahn expects train cancellations and delays in long-distance traffic at noon. According to a railway spokeswoman, long-distance trains from Mannheim and Heidelberg to Karlsruhe will be canceled on Tuesday due to the defusing planned for 1 p.m. near the main train station, and train traffic from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe will also be affected. The connection from Karlsruhe to Basel should run. The railway spokeswoman was initially unable to say exactly how many travelers were affected and in what period of time. In any case, hundreds of train drivers would have to adjust to disabilities. Deutsche Bahn will do everything possible to keep the disruption to a minimum and to provide travelers with precise information.
Hundreds of residents within a radius of 500 meters from where the bomb was found on Stuttgarter Strasse had to leave their homes early in the morning because of the bomb disposal. Traffic on federal highway 10 will also be interrupted for the duration of the defusing. According to the city, the 500-kilogram bomb from World War II was found on Monday at a construction site near the freight yard.
The Karlsruhe transport company and the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) are still working on a diversion concept. From midday, the VBK bus lines 44 and 47 have to be diverted. The yellow light rail lines S31 and S32 of the AVG from Bruchsal are expected to end at Durlach station for about two hours from 1 p.m. There you can change to the S4 or Tram 2. The lines S4 and S5 to the KA city center are not affected. Lines S71 and S81 from and in the direction of Rastatt run regularly to Karlsruhe main station. Delays may also occur on these lines.
