In early 2022, Cathy Hummels became the victim of a brutal robbery in Thailand. Now the presenter is returning to the “crime scene” for filming. On Instagram, the 34-year-old tells how she deals with the traumatic experience.
Moderator Cathy Hummels spoke in an Instagram post about her handling of a traumatic attack in Thailand. She has become more cautious, but feels “stronger and happier than ever,” said the 34-year-old. For the RTLzwei reality show “Kampf der Realitystars”, Hummels returned to Thailand, where she was brutally attacked and robbed during the last shoot in February 2022.
“I’ve often dreamed of it. I dreamed that a man jumped on me, hugged me, squeezed me tightly and wouldn’t let go,” writes Hummels about two pictures that show her on the beach. “At first I didn’t know how to interpret this recurring dream. At some point I realized what my nightmare was saying. It was my experience in Thailand.” She faced her fear in the dream “by saying to the ‘stranger’ from my dream: ‘That’s enough. Leave me in peace.’ He did. I haven’t dreamed of it since.”
She made a conscious decision to return to the “crime scene”. “I love Thailand and my job as a presenter on Clash of Reality Stars, so it was important for me to put the negative thoughts and my fears behind me.” Basically, she had become more cautious. “And I can only recommend that to everyone. Be careful, but don’t lose faith and trust in the good in people. I was lucky in misfortune because I’m still alive and today I’m stronger and happier than ever.”
During a walk on the beach, she was hit on the head from behind and the perpetrator hit her several times, Hummels said in February 2022 in the “Bild” interview about the incident. “At some point I realized that this is a matter of life and death and I started to fight back.” Hummels yelled at the man, who grabbed her cell phone and then ran away. “I gathered all my strength and ran back to the hotel. The whole time I only thought about my little son Ludwig.” Once there, she reported the robbery to the police and filed a complaint.
The fourth season of “Kampf der Realitystars” will start on RTLzwei in spring. Among other things, Ur-“Bachelor” Paul Janke is one of the celebrities who travel to Thailand for 50,000 euros and the title “Realitystar 2023”. 22 other reality stars will move in with Janke, including “Bachelor in Paradise” Casanova Serkan Yavuz, “Bachelor” candidate Eva Benetatou, “Bachelorette” candidate Lukas Baltruschat and “Temptation Island V.I.P.” loser Emmy Russ.
